You asked: How do I request my certs?

It's very simple. Whoever your broker is (retail or on-line) you call them up and tell them that you want guaranteed delivery of your stock certificates IN YOUR NAME. It's that simple. Now, they can physically mail your certificates to you, or you (for a small fee) can have it held at the brokerage house (if they have those kind of facilities and if you trust them). The longer you wait, the more time the MM's have. Having your certs in hand effectively stops the MM's from "borrowing" against your stock.

It's always best to get certificates in hand........
