Interesting comments by Field, but utterly without support in his own polling. He talks about a "huge drop" in job approval from 65 to 57 since February. I'm shocked that Clinton's ratings have gone down 8% since he (1) he has been at the center of a scandal that takes up half the newshour every single day and (2) is undergoing impeachment proceedings. What, did Field expect Clinton's ratings to go up after he admitted getting BJs in the White House? As for this alleged Watergate pattern, what Field has identified is the fact that a President suffers in the polls after reports are filed with Congress urging impeachable offenses. That also falls into the category of "No sh*t Sherlock." I don't know what Field is trying to do other than spin his own polls so he can get them played up in the paper.
