Here's a post from someone on TMF:

boards.fool.com

I installed the card/drivers and was running "Unreal" within 30 minutes. Looks as good or better than my Voodoo II card.

I've seen lots of other posts from happy campers. There's got to be something specific holding you back. Probably NT related.

Quantum3D is a great company , but they can be a bit slow in posting patches. The quake patch is already out. I'm going home now , and am going to get the latest drivers. As soon as I find a set that works,
I'll post the link.

Some people apparently had some luck using the New Guillemont Phoenix drivers. (ftp://ftp.guillemot.com) Try at own risk.

I do know that ALL drivers out there are Beta drivers (with the latest posts being Release candidates). Reference Drivers won't be out till at least the 15th of October. So far, I actually love the card (despite the ironic lack of 3d). It's fast, sharp, and my text windows scroll like the wind (90 lps/250 lps 32/16 bit mode). I'll keep you as I find new drivers, etc.

It's not unusual for cards these days to ship with early/incomplete drivers. It saddens me a bit that a 3dfx card would ship this way, though. Still, 3dfx did not officially post Release drivers yet, so maybe the card makers got tired of waiting and shipped : )

Beta drivers don't bother me. I live on the Bleeding edge of technology. It's the new 3dfx buyers out there which might get a bad impression of an otherwise superb product.

Banshee. The second hour...third...fourth...
No Need for Speed 3, No quake2. I called Quantum and they said 3DFX is working on patches and that there may be an alpha patch for NFS3. Anyone seen it?
Aaargh! It looks like I won't be seeing Banshee's 3D effectiveness anytime soon.
And to think I ditched work today to go to EB and buy this thing for $149.
I hope it is 3DFX that needs to deliver the patch and not Quantum. There are a lot of options to choose from I hope I didn't make the wrong choice in buying the Quantum Raven

Anthony -

I have played both Need For Speed III and Quake II with the Monster 3D II and both work just fine in 3DFX mode, so my guess would be that it is the Banshee that is having problems.
