will Mot news help Intel tomorrow? as far as csco: my opinon is so called experts don't know anything, but if there is some one who really knows anything with in the "expert" communtiy then he /she would be using it for their own benefits so I give up trying to make sense of all what they say. Better to use your own head.. then some one else's ... (just mho).

and ya, use Paul Engle's head. but not SG Cowen.

Hey where is Kurlak? on vacation or fired?

RE: Cisco -- a piece of it fell on my head

I wonder if anyone else noticed today that the sky was falling. Anyone who walks around with a 50 or 70 P/E in stormy weather well get hit, but why should 25's be victims? Thank Hermes for the teenies!

Tony Re: Cisco

There seems to be a "realization" that networking/datacom/telecom may be going into the tank in light of Nortel and Alcatel poor earnings announcements.

At times, the news media makes me think the whole world is going into the tank.

I hope the tank is big enough for all of us.

Paul

Cowen's thesis is based upon its belief that enterprise information technology budgets are being readjusted for calendar 1999. Cowen surveyed 22 companies and saw over one-third of the 11 financial services companies responding to its survey changing IT investment projections, which isn't surprising given job cutbacks in money center banks and investment-related financial services companies.

I am amazed at how much negativity was injected into the marketplace by the Cowen announcement downgrading Cisco - particularly when I read that this was based on ONLY 3 or 4 companies out of 11 who responded out of 22 financial services companies who were "selected" for this "survey".

To base conclusions on such a small sample is ludicrous.

The market is overreacting to the slightest hint of negativity. What might happen with a little positive news? Nothing? or ??
