Z-Man,

I had misunderstood your earlier post. Thought you were referring to shares being offered for sale, not executed trades.

I am looking for a way to get access to stock index quotes at this point. Can anyone show me a link where I can get the XOI, both closing quote and chart? Much obliged for the help.

I feel that with there being such divergence between the different broad indices as shown today, you can't look to any one of those as representative of the "market", with which to compare HEC's performance. The XOI would seem to be more representative of the market, with respect to HEC.

I reviewed Strain's calc.'s in enough detail to conclude that they are reasonable (if not conservative) projections. He assumes a WTI price of $19 a bbl. in 2000, which is a healthy amount higher than the current futures price (averages around $17.50) but he's overly conservative on the production, so it balances out. He projects they'll produce just 7.6 mmbo in '00 from Colombia, which works out to a measly 21,000 bopd! With any amount of luck they could actually be cranking out the black stuff at double that rate by that point.

Looks like Strain is using 159 mm shares @ '00. Seems reasonable to me since he's also assuming no new discoveries. If they don't make any new discoveries then they don't need to raise any more $$$ for drilling and they will have plenty of cash plus borrowing power as a result of their cash flow. He's projecting $97 mm cash flow for '00 and banks will usually lend you 3 - 4 x cash flow.

We are entering a period, with the Islero about to (or maybe in the middle of) drill(ing) through the zones of interest, where this stock like all others before and after it will become schizoid for a couple of weeks. Folks are gonna see it slip an eighth and their imagination will get the better of them and they will be convinced that its a dry hole and they'll bolt out of the stock. Others will see it pop up an eighth the next day and will be sure that they found something and double up their position.

Me, I'm gettin' too old to worry about all this crapola. I'm just gonna hunker down and wait for the news. Will someone please wake me up when its party time? <g>
