I'm always amazed at how far behind the analysts are in their earnings revisions. They never increase or decrease them fast enough to keep pace with what is going on. I laugh when money managers say watch the earnings revisions and if they're positive buy, negative sell. What foolishness (I've found out). The stock usually falls significantly before the estimates are revised downward and visa-versa. I've seen this in the disk drive makers (took a loss), the chip makers (took a bath), and the drillers (got drilled). As a matter of fact, while these stocks were falling hard they were still giving them positive estimate revisions.

I imagine they will be way behind again when the earnings turn around on the way up too. The stock price performance is predictive of estimate revisions, not visa-versa (at least in this sector).
