Chuckie: If you are talking about IMF helping Japan with 15-20 billion dollars, nothing could be farther from truth. The Japanese don't need any money from anybody not from the U.S,not from G-7 and certainly not from IMF as they got more money than every damn country combined.Lack of money is not their problem it is the non-performing loans of the bank as you said and the amount you mentioned also could be right,ie about 1 trillion dollars.Funny thing is they got the money but have no political will to clean up the mess.

"in fact, the japanese exposure is estimated at 1 trillion dollars, the IMF ability to control this with 15-20 billion dollars is like taking a leak into the Pacific..

<When that 50 something year old realizes his 401k or Index fund is about to get smoked>

A lot of us 401k'ers waited until 59 1/2 to move our money over to a brokerage IRA to invest in individual stocks. My thoughts are that there are a considerable number of 60+ investors who are really getting nervous as they see that their worth has already dropped 30-40% ,more bad news comes day after day and they are still in the market.
