Problem is, some of those smaller firms won't last that long. Mostly because they'll be bought up at fire-sale prices by their larger competitors.

Others won't get moving fast enough in the next cycle, or won't have the right products at the right time at the right price. PRI Automation and BRKS are both nice plays as well and they are riskier, but mostly the risk is that somebody buys them out at prices far lower than their long-term value.

NVLS and KLAC are other companies I like in the field, which are likely to survive and thrive both through internal growth and acquisition.
