Airtouch is one of my core holdings, along with WorldCom and Travelers. However, the point I was making in my previous post was that I do not believe Airtouch is a takeover candidate by WorldCom, as suggested in a recent article in THE ECONOMIST.

Bernie Ebbers has not indicated any interest in wireless, even though some feel that it is a gap in the system that needs filling. WorldCom's thrust has been and still is to acquire fibre-optic capacity and not venture into the field of wireless telephony. This does not preclude a future adventure into that realm, but I have seen no evidence whatsoever that WorldCom feels it has the need.
