<< comparing Hitler to Clinton >>

One last try here - there was not a comparison of Germany to America or Clinton to Hitler, but of the people in Germany at the time of Hitler to people in America today. You are clouding the issue with irrelevancies.

<<Maybe your just trying to bait me, >>

Absolutely! I tried to make that plain when I said I was just having some fun, however, there is a lesson to be taken from this - first of all, we are not going to solve the problems here on this board, so we all need to stop taking everything so seriously. Spirited discussion is good because it helps you clarify the issues and make sure you understand your own position better, but never think anything we say will change the direction events will take. Second, all of this has happened one way or the other in the past, and if we don't learn from the past..........

If you don't like the comparison to Germans in the 30's, look at some of the other countries today. Look at the blind way that Iranians or Iraqis (or others) have followed their leaders even when it was obviously not in their best interests, simply because of ideology. Pick a country, any country, and I'll bet you can find examples of people following a leader blindly over a cliff because he espoused some philosophy they agreed with.
