Tony,

If you bought the card at EB make sure you look in their latest promotional magazine they have there. There is a coupon for a 25$ EB gift certificate if you purchase any 3D graphics card over $99. It is a mail in offer so you have to wait for it but it is well worth your time. The offer expires on the 15 of this month though so you have to do it soon. EB also has frequent buyer cards, cost is $30 for the year but you get 5% off of everything. Every once in a while they have these double discount days where you get 10% off. The next day this is going to happen is Oct 14. Theoretically then you could buy your card on the 14th, take 10% of the price and then get 25$ back on top of any other rebates.

I just picked up the Creative Labs TnT there for $158 ( I have the frequent buyer card) and am going to mail in for the 25$ coupon. I already have the Obsidian X24 so buying a Banshee card does not seem to make sense. I am interested in seeing if I can tell the difference between the visual quality of the two cards using different color depths.

Eric

Here's a juicy hint that id (the makers of Quake2) _won't_ be sitting on the sidelines this Christmas season after all. From Todd Hollenshead, id's CEO:

"It's also very likely that we will release another product for Quake II before Christmas, but the deal isn't finalized yet so I can't say much more about it. If everything works like we hope, it will be something very cool for all Quake II fans."

New Raven drivers out, version 1.2

Haven't seen anyone mention this, so maybe I'm the first one to notice this. It claims to fix the Quake II problems. My apologies if this is old news, but they don't date their updates like others do. (Wicked3D does this very well.)

Cheers,
Tim
