Jbe, I thought I made pretty clear in my post that I do NOT believe that America is fixated on its President's genitals. I think that part of America is running as fast as it can from any thought at all of the significance on this scandal, and has totally absorbed the administration's spin that this is about Clinton's private sex life. It is not. Hey, too bad he is so out of control that he is unable to keep his sex life private. But as a parent, I agree with the people who believe this is about the chief law enforcement officer of the land lying under oath, suborning perjury, obstructing justice, etc. I also don't buy the argument that we should just forget about all of this because the world is not doing very well. Clinton created his problems, and what is going on around us has very little to do with that. He did not make the world economy go kaflooey, although his idealization of globalization economic theory may have. I guess I am becoming more like Starr, arguing that the truth is the truth, and the truth is important. I do think it is sad that we are the world's only superpower, but I don't think everyone should depend upon us for stability. It puts too much responsibility on one nation. I thought all those people at the U.N. giving him a standing ovation was sickening. Most people probably do think the G-7 is some sort of erogenous zone. Our general populace gets its news from a few quick glances at the most insipid television news. We are a country where it is no longer considered a civic duty to be well informed. The reason I disagreed with Purething is because I do not agree with what I understood him to be saying. Is there a problem with that?
