Ditch re;SKI

it may finally be that Les has gone a bit too far in expansion and all these new ventures
it was one thing when he left Killington to run Sunday River 20 years ago, but another to run a venture this far flung

on the other hand it may be the market, which is pricing in a nasty recession into every "leisure" stock

the market is saying none of us will ever again:

shop in a store (look at all the retail stocks, especially the pricy ones like TIF

stay in a hotel (FS)

rent a car (HRZ AVI)

ski (SKI MTN)

take a cruise (CCL RCL)

fly a plane (pick any airline, maybe ALK)

etc etc etc

but one of these days, if the recession fears abate, the above will be ones to watch, for a fast and big turn

PS
for years I used to play SKI when it was Killington on the nasdaq; bought it every summer in June/July when it was at the annual low; sold it in Nov/Dec when hopes for the season were high; something like buying used boats in the Fall and re selling them in the Spring for 10-20% gain; worked like clockwork; but no longer

DD,

I really haven't been paying attention to SKI other than keeping track of their press releases looking for New England expansions.

Wonder what their book value is and whether any analysts follow them (and if so what is the projected earnings). This company is really a real estate/timesharing play IMO. The ski areas are loss leaders and are just ways to create value to the real estate. So far it seems to be working --- they sold out $42 mm of timeshares in The Canyons (Utah) in 10 hours.

I notice there isn't an SI thread on this company. Maybe we should start one or use the Yahoo thread to discuss this.
