David,

I posted a last week that ATI could test the 40's again. At this point in time, my hunch is that ATI is falling victim to profit taking for the fund managers. There aren't too many stocks out there that have solid gains, and frankly it wouldn't surprise me if ATI and several others in that ilk end of hitting their 52 week lows. I don't mean to be overly pessimistic, but we have some real fear driving this market and I don't think any stock, no matter how good their prospects, is immune. Just my opinion, bp

What a frustrating time this is! ATI has solid fundamentals, great growth prospects, no impending or ongoing litigation around its neck, and no regulators threatening to bring it down. So why the free-fall?

I dunno! I can only speculate that ATI is a clean stock, very liquid and easy to sell in this market, which is what I believe the shaky hedge funds are doing right now. If the big funds are spooked that we are in the first leg of a bear market, they too are dumping the stock. It's a horrible case of irrational selling.

Volume has diminished over the previous three days as the stock sold off--a small consolation. My charts tell me that if the stock doesn't hold 45, the next resistance level could be in the 30's.

Has anyone on this thread heard any adverse news about ATI that would account for this debacle?

Good luck,
