I agree that it looks interesting at these levels. But stocks that lose 90% of their value in 3 months do not usually bounce back smartly. And with market cap hovering below $1B the stock is currently off-limits for institutions seeking large caps. Could be a good January-effect candidate though.

I think a factor folks should consider is that other companies such as Level three and Qwest which are building new FO networks and will need WDM. A buddy of mine at Antec says they see a real upsurge in demand for WDM all around. Does anyone know if CIEN has solid business with these companies? Also, what is their position in the Metro and smaller networking markets? It would seem to me that over time this will be a much larger and more broad based market with a plethora of customers. Any thoughts? I too am amazed at the rather low price of this stock. It is not a high flier at present and I am wondering when its sell off will die down and if I should jump in at that point. The bottom line is WDM is here to stay and there is HUGH money to be made in it.

The VC chairman of the board, Jon Bayless is buying as much as he can at these levels.

Do you have any proof of this, besides the article in some newspaper? I'd like to see any formal filing that indicates he's buying. Also, what if he's buying to cover short? Just a thought.
