"This market is too volatile, too negative, and there too much uncertainty everywhere"

This is frequently a sign of the bottom.....

Maxer,

Thanks for your kind words.

You see, it's relatively easy for me to keep cool, as CSCO, INTC, and a number of other big cap stocks are still UP year-to-date, not to mention the fact that I acquired most of these shares way back then.
It's still better than CD and cash under the mattress.

As to where the bottom is, I think it's a highly individualized question. For INTC, the bottom was August 29; for DELL, we may be at it (or retesting it); for CSCO, there could be a further downward movement but it will be quick; for the enterprise software companies such as SAP and PSFT, we may have seen it.

In a market like this, each stock has a life of its own; yet the random energy of movements rub off on one other....

With great respect for your cool head and thoughtful way of making decisions, I humbly suggest that are not at the bottom. This market is too volatile, too negative, and there too much uncertainty everywhere.

Thing is, everyone realizes it now. Everywhere I look people are turning pessimistic. A week ago everyone (myself included) was looking at the Wonderful Buying Opportunity. Now everyone is finally worried. This is a Good Thing.

Maxer,

How much more downside do you see for the market, and what conditions or events do you think will cause the market to turn upwards?

Thanks.
