eric, Naz has been hit hard in last 3 days and sun refuses to set !! i love it. i was tempted to sell sunw just cuz everything i can pick up dell for lower price but dell, csco, msft coming down hard every day. today is a good day to go on margin and pick up any of these beautful companies. msft, dell, csco, ...

I found this interesting. SOLARIS is eaisly ported to LINUX. "...Enderle suspects some interns at Microsoft got ambitious and tried a Linux port from the Solaris code base and found it worked..." ====================================================================== For Sunw to build a functional and popular platform, they need to develop a WindowsNT ease of use desktop. They have made a start on developing a 'functional' and user friendly system in their Solaris 2.6 OS but it still lacks the GUI interface as offered in the NT 4.0 platform. NT also supports many other "NT Services' and devise drivers than SOLARIS. Sunw has the opportunity to promote SOLARIS 2.6 with all WindowsNT utilities by establishing a company wide program to port all 'sytem utilities (including drivers)' to Solaris 2.6. The standard SOLARIS desktop interface needs to have more functions added. Two different configuration settings dodn't work on my initial test but do work on my NT system. I have not been able to test the "run time" results for each system but I expect SOLARIS to perform well. LINUX provides several back office type application programs. If these were ported to SOLARIS 2.6, then an office suite product could be sold. By promoting these features, Sunw could establish a NT alternative called SOLARIS. They might even get MAC users to use their new system. EKS
