I believe Nettles indicated Ciena will lose money next quarter (1Q99). Fiber has a vast market, so is RAS. But it doesn't mean all that are in the business are winners. Only #1 and #2 survive, maybe #3. SHVA isn't among top 3. CIEN is #1 now, but with a dozen companies in this WDM market, I wonder where we are going?

BTW, I like your enthusiasm and I'll be glad to sell you all my shares at a big discount to your prediction. Many people say "load up" this and that, there have been so many opportunities to do just that, where does all the extra money come from? The market has vaporized $1.5 trillion dollar this quarter alone.

Ciena is totally different from SHVA that is not making money now.

Neither is CIEN. 4Q will likely show a loss, or at best break even.

For a 30 to 40% growth rate company the price right now based on the earnings is incredibly low.

You continue to post this total fabrication. At best, CIEN is projected to show NEGATIVE 30 percent growth over the next year.

On next years earning's of maybe .30 to .50 (which many think is at best, a 50-50 shot), the PE is 20 to 30 at the current price of 9. Add in continued market turmoil, where real growth stocks are re-priced to real growth rates, and questionable stocks (like CIEN) are getting bludgeoned, and you will probably be able to buy another truck load at 6 or 7.
