While the US and European markets are crashing, let us not forget that all this could have been avoided if those damned "hedge" funds were investigated one year back when some Dr Mahathir guy first brought it up. Now we know for sure these massive and massively leveraged anonymous colluding speculators caused the whole crisis. Just look at how Asian markets are recovering even with the Dow/Nasdaq/Footsie crashing everyday. Now, one year ago, the good doctor said 1. Hedged funds were robbing poor countries by colluding to produce massive self-fulfilling panic which feeds on itself 2. Massive flows of short term capital had to be regulated 3. Greater transparency must be imposed on currency trading 4. The IMF prescription of high interest rates will kill the economy of Asian countries He was laughed at by everybody. The Economist magazine called his economics "Noddynomics". Soros called him a menace to his own country. And so on and so forth. Now Dr M has imposed capital controls, the Malaysian economy is slowly recovering, and the country is like a tranquil isle in the midst of a raging storm. Seems like Dr M is the only person who has been right these last 15 months. We should make him head of the IMF and World Bank. We should get some Senate committee to investigate Soros and his Quantum fund. The guy is probably trying to rape Alan Greenspan now. Five years later he will write his best seller "How I raped the whole world".
