The mass market doesn't know what an IRQ is. And I don't think this company is
all that worried about being in desktops.

Based on my understanding of the conference call, I agree. The company is betting on the server interconnect business, not on desktops. They claim SCSI, particularly Ultra-3, is the fastest system for servers, that it has the additional advantage of being backward compatible, and that the server market will gro 15% per year for the next several years and they expect to maintain their market share and so grow at least the same 15%.

Would be interested in Capt.'s views on server market, whether he sees a strong competitor to SCSI in that market in the next five years.

BTW, did you see that First Call came up with new projections which lift FY2000 revenues from .77 to .83? 83 cents at a 25PE (low, I think, for a high tech company with growing earnings) gives us $20.75 as an 18 month target, or more than doubling from the present -- not a bad return.

Patrick,

The mass market knows what a mess is created by insufficient IRQs. And they don't want to fool with SCSI if it is not a high performance item needing the spare hook. Adaptec once had its eyes on this type of market, which is why it once carried a much higher stock premium., I agree with you they are no longer eyeing that market, thus the stock price has adjusted itself accordingly.

Best,
Capt. Dennis Shepherd
