It'll be a long time before antitrust wastes our tax dollars to the point that, say, the B-1 bomber did.

Waste is waste, but the damage that the anti-trust activist zealots do extends far beyond the dollars they spend. I hear that the DOJ is after Visa and Mastercard now. Someone needs to put a strong restraining hand on these power lusting, statist bureaucrats before they they do more damage.

Off topic, the danger that this market debacle presents to the economy is the collapse of the wealth effect. Consumer confidence will erode, spending will decrease, corporate earnings will decline, and the budget surplus will disappear as capital gains turn to losses. I hope the Fed acts quickly and decisively to add liquidity and further lower interest rates. I'd like to see a 50 basis point cut.

Regards, JB
