Yeah, it's funny how history repeats but the newbies refuse to see it. The 1983 tech debacle was worse, but how many of those 'can I make a million with 100 shares' folks were around back then???

The 3Q share numbers from IDC and dataquest will show a sharp increase in share for CPQ and some for HP and even IBM, and a decrease in Dell share, simply because of the measurement basis (shipments from mfg rather than sales to customers). This may come at a bad time for Dell. I think that some of Dell's recent rise was based on the incorrect perception that their market share was rising at a more rapid rate, because of this incorrect reading of the data.

We may actually see CPQ catch Dell in share price in 4Q.
