If there was lots of put buying, then MMs were writing the puts and shorting the stock as they went along--because we all know that after the 87 crash, its a big no-no for MMs to write naked puts. MMs are covered put writers. Yea, I agree that heavy put buying/activity is a good indicator of a short term bottom. I still expect COMS to hit high $23's/low $24s, however I'm looking for a rally to retest resistance at about $27. We'll either get a gap up tomorrow or a rally to $27--then its short time again.

joe, i think the worse is coms could go to 20. even that, i believe
that coms will be 30, as the matter of time. Though COMS is not as
hot as cisco or LU, but most of its bad news are out and it has
gained back some reputation, so I feel more relief to get in at
this level than I was before. If CISCO or LU were warning, their
stock price would be suffer terribly.

joe,

Notice that 3Com is buying its shares back at an avg. $26.57. This helps me feel good about buying at these levels. 3Com has approx. 9 million shares more to buy if it wishes, should lend some support, hopefully :)!
