You're going to hear this idle speculation anyway so here it is. I am very doubtful about the validity in light of 3dfx saying 2Q for even the follow on Banshee. Here you go:

It's really rather annoying that Diamond's incompetence should reflect negatively on our stock. They are most likely the ones that screwed us this quarter, invested in our competition (and thus, their own competition), tried to corner the market on memory, to produce an 8 mb board that no one wanted (This, despite public sentiment against the move... Many people, myself included sent diamond mail asking for a 12mb v2... no luck). Creative labs actually listened (they were going to release a 6 mb V2... but changed their mind and went to 12 mb due to public sentiment). Creative got the early sales, and Diamond got stuck with alot of expensive inventory. Never mind Diamonds incompetence in inventory management, and shipping. If anything, the diamond move should cause our price to RISE, not fall. The sector isn't sick, Diamond is.
