I feel good about that. Human medical science needs these things to test our drugs on. Why limit to chimps? How about rabbits for our cosmetics and mice for our cancer treatments? Anything that promotes human life is great with me.

Yes, I am one of those compassionate conservatives that actually checks to make sure that products I buy are not animal tested. I don't belong to PETA (although my girlfriend used to, before she realized just how extreme they were), but I would rather have people die than to discover new medicines or treatments through testing on mammals (for some reason, it wouldn't bother me as much to test on fish or maybe fowl). We buy only free-range chicken, and won't eat veal.

Since I'm not religious, it can't have anything to do with that, but my internal compass tells me that if I couldn't justify someone doing it to me, I shouldn't justify doing it to them.
