John, didn't we have a process that could be followed before the Independent Counsel law was written? What was it that was used to investigate Nixon? Special Prosecutor? The OIC law, as it exists today, has left some undesirable consequences. So something has to be rewritten when renewal comes up! Of course, when you see Reno blatantly ignore the current OIC laws by not appointing an Independent Counsel for the Chinagate situation as Freeh and the other guy recommended, then what good does it have to have a law at all? The Clinton administration seems to only abide by the laws that choose to acknowledge!
