I am too young to have personal memories of him but I grew up when we had just won the war and come out of the depression and he was very inspiring with those quotable and meaningful thoughts.

Do you mean that you prefer progress be stopped. One of the essential ingradients for progress is want.

Or Perhaps you mean something else by "want"
