G .... I do not know that the conf. call was specifically aimed at

GS and MS - are you suggesting they knew these two guys were about to, or thinking of, downgrading? Could be, who knows? Seems to me, PS wanted to simply defend its position. Since all ERP's are in the dumper, have they downgraded all of these companies now, or only PSFT (I do not see analysts reports on all these companies).

You are more right than wrong I believe when you state that stock will generally take a long time to come back. It certainly seems as though the old momentum is gone (it could return, say if someday PS market share takes a jump up and SAP's suffers). What if the market perceived that PSFT could increase market share to 15 or 16% and SAP drop to 20%. That's pretty earth shattering, no? I did say "WHAT IF" - not that I expect it.

Sorry, I don't know whether they "highly encouraged" employees to buy stock. We all know key employees and executives have options. All employees have rights to buy stock at a discount to the average price over the space of each quarter (actually I think it is begin and end of quarter price average). I have no knowledge of whether this is marketed *agressively* internally or not. I am sure most employees own varying amounts of the stock and are keenly interested in it. If I hear anything specific, I could pass it along, but I have not heard of anything. I know a number of employees, either as long time associates in the business, or from working with PeopleSoft clients. I do not have an inside pipeline or anything.
