Pat,

I have to come to the conclusion that the creativity of persons on this board and well as some of the others can easily result in some great ideas. The actual event rarely meets those expectations. But on the bright side it seems like the track record has been bad/disappointing news drives the stock up.

My view on the ad campaign is that it is meaningless for people that already know 3Dfx, e.g., those that read this thread. It's there to grab the attention of the more average (and unaware) consumer who are less likely to be technically inclined. The serious gamer is part of the early adopter group where specs/performance sells. Typically the early mainstream responds to a different theme; I think that a successfull campaign will contain two components: (1) 3Dfx/Voodoo is a defacto standard of sorts...supporting all games (Glide/DX/OpenGL) and (2) A 3Dfx experience is more realistic. I've stated these in rather dry terms, which explains why I shouldn't go into advertising. But I think those are the ones to sell. If that doesn't work then we could fall back on the tried and true sell theme for most brands of toothpaste....you'll have whiter brighter teeth and get members of the opposite sex....

Best Regards,
Jim

I've been looking for a site that has benchmarking data for manydifferent video cards. I've been working on my competition article and I'm trying to do a price/performance comparison. TNT, Banshee, and Voodoo2 (and s3 Savage) is no problem, but I'm having a tough time for ATI, Riva128, Permidia, i740, and Rendition.

What I'm looking for is Foresaken and Quake2 benchmark scores (D3D and OpenGL).

Michael

ps - so far the Banshee kicks serious butt price-wise against almost everything - retail boards for $75 (after rebate).
