wow, that press release makes me want to go out and buy a couple V2s. I hope the optimized drivers spill over to Banshee and provide the same significant performance increase when the reference drivers are released.

Wow! Jon Peddie? What's the world coming to! Next thing you know, C-net will be giving us a thumbs up!

Looking forward to seeing some benchmarks...noticed the PR doesn't mention resolution, though it must be at the highest res possible.

Looking forward to seeing individual reactions...

That $230 price point is starting to give me that funky feeling in my tummy (in a good way)... i wonder how they strongar... ummm... convinced the board makers to go along with the price cuts...

As part of the promotion, Guillemot will offer a pair of 12 MB Voodoo2 cards for a special "Power of 2" pricing of $229 (U.S.)....

In support of the "Power of 2" program, Creative Labs, STB, Canopus and Guillemot all offer a Voodoo2 SLI configuration for less than 300.....

curious to see that Diamond isn't listed....

3dfx collects $11.6 million from Sega. :)

-Tae Kim

Sega, which makes video-game software, said it now estimates group net profit for the fiscal year ending March 31, 1999, at 3.2 billion yen, down a hefty 36% from its original projection of 5 billion yen. Year-earlier net profit figures for the group weren't available.

Sega attributed the downward revision to a 3.3 billion yen securities-valuation loss and its payment of 1.4 billion yen [$11.6million smackaroos -bw] to settle a lawsuit by 3Dfx Interactive Inc. (TDFX) of the U.S.

3Dfx Interactive sued Sega Enterprises and three other companies in 1997, alleging breach of contract, unfair competition and misappropriation of trade secrets, after Sega ended a video-game-chipset contract with 3Dfx and switched to graphics technology developed by Videologic Group Plc. and NEC Corp. (NIPNY). The companies agreed in principle to settle the lawsuit this past August.
