Roger, what is most important is how the MKII-8 price compares to that of a hub. The OEM price will be LESS than $1250 per port.
If I was John Chambers, (Cisco), I would buy this company in a heartbeat. wj

<< Does anyone know what the price per port was prior to todays announced reduction?>>

MKII 16 port list price was $2495/port ( optics )and $1995/port ( copper )to the END USER. Assume that an OEM price at minimum for the MKII 16 port switch is $1,000 - $1250/port before factoring in quantity discounts.

The new Ancor MKII 8 port switch price to END USER is $1,250/port (not sure if price is copper or optics ), which implies the OEM price is at the most $625/port.In other words, a decent size OEM will probably get even lower price per port than $625/port...( My educated guess ).

Don't know if we're talking about 5 -10 - 20 - 40 % quantity discounts from here. Your guess is as good as mine, but this news should give Brocade lots to think about in their sleep. Note that one of the cost savings here is that MKII-8 port is only Class 2/3 and does not do Class 1. IMO, this is unheard of LOW pricing in FC industry and may even make products like Gadzoox Denali switch obsolete <g>.Does anyone have pricing on managed hub products?

Compare to Brocade 8 port switch priced in $2,000 range, ie $1,000/port to OEM's.Note that the ANCR press release positions MKII-8 as an "NT" switch..who competes in the NT space? Well, if SUNW is UNIX, then perhaps companies like DELL, CPQ , etc..might have some interest in a product/port count/price point like this.

Roger,

Thanks for your email and the suggestion about Datek. I thought I would reply publicly not for the purpose of slandering Charles Schwab & Company, but, that other ANCR shareholders may be interested in knowing about Datek's more liberal margin policies with respect to micro caps like ANCR. I'll followup on your suggestion. IMO, Schwab is unethical doing what they do to investors who have always made timely deposits when called upon and who consistently have maintained excellent credit. I never have a problem with corporate policies, however, I do have a problem when losses occur after a deposit is made, and at 93% equity without prior warning because they assert they have that right. If all of that wasn't bad enough Schwab charged me full service commissions, approximately $100 per thousand shares they market sold. So much for web brokers I guess.
