One question and one idea. Does the 2940U2W have a built in BIOS that allows you to access a hard drive in DOS mode with out using a driver?

I booted into MS DOS mode and created a system disc using format a: /s. I then booted the machine from the floppy that I just created. I checked my drives and saw both IDE drives and both SCSI drives. I did not see the IDE CDROM nor the two SCSI CDxxx's nor the external SCSI drive. I looked on the floppy and there is no autoexec.bat and no config.sys so I assume I loaded no drivers.

If my test properly addresses your question the answer is yes I can access the harddrives without using a DOS driver.

The Windows 98 Start Up floppy disk has drivers for both IDE CD-ROMs and SCSI devices. Once you are running in DOS mode run your WIN NT setup program.

Is the problem just related to the initial load of NT? Can I install NT on an IDE drive and then clone it to the SCSI drive?
