The Vortex,

Thanks for the insightful patent info and for the answer to my "Art Unit" question.

I had bookmarked the following patents some months ago and offer them here for perusal and eventual comparison to the GRNO patent. The first is the so-called Shurtleff method which seems to most resemble the GRNO process. The second is for a diesel fuel cracking unit. The third seems to be the least relevant of the three. Like you said there are many others related to cracking and distillation but these seemed most pertinent (to the layman I am) to the GRNO process.

Thanks again for your interesting perspective and looking forward to your opinion on GRNO's patent.

<<I wonder if GRNO applied for patents in other countries? If not, then foreign competitors would be free to make and use the GRNO process, just not in this country.>>

a blurb from the October 13th Columbia, SC THE STATE biz section SOUTH CAROLINA: AND NEWS FROM THE REGION column......
_______________

Green Oasis granted patent

* CHARLESTON - Green Oasis Environmental Inc. said Monday that the federal
government has granted the company a patent for its process to convert waste motor
oil to diesel fuel. The company also has filed for the worldwide patent rights.

Green Oasis has not operated its recycling plant since April. The Securities and
Exchange Commission filed suit against Green Oasis in July about company claims in
news releases and on the Internet.
_______________

Not sure from where The State received the information on the worldwide rights. I would guess either from talking to BC, reviewing the application or maybe somehow interpreting it from the news release. The latter seems highly improbable. The State has been very diligent and quite balanced (unlike the local Charleston press) when reporting on GRNO in the past. Maybe they talked to BC.

Dan,

I used to be an engineer and was interested in patents in the general area of circuitry related to microwave semiconductors. I had lunch one time with a brilliant engineer who had three truly innovative patents. One was a method for lossless feedback in signal amplifiers in which there was a technical mistake. My employer picked up on that and shamelessly pirated the patent. While to me the mistake was inconsequential to the real value of the discovery, in court the lawyers used the mistake to get the damage award reduced to a pittance that didn't even pay to defend the patent. I found that behavior embarrassing to me professionally.

GRNO better not have any mistakes of any kind in that patent.
