Well I agree a number of issues got Clinton elected. But family values didnt help. I mean, talk about stupidity - the republicans have to know they are exiting the mainstream with their RR alliances and then to make an entire platform out of it!

"Family values" is now a Demo code phrase for scaring young, undereducated, insecure women away from Republican candidates.

Try 30ish, overeducated egomaniacs too. And this was by design? Methinks not!

Mr. K.

Actually you're wrong on the DEM "family values" code. Clinton/Gore co-opted family values as a campaign issue in 96 and I believe one made a speech that was remarkably like Quayles. If I can find it, I'll post it. bp

Did you know that no one in the media ever challenged him on that - until after the election? That's how we "got" a Bill Clinton in the WH.

We got Bill Clinton in the White House not because of the media, but because Pats Robertson and Buchanan terrified mainstream Republicans and liberal Independents into the Democratic camp. Face the facts. The Republicans have no one to blame for their presidential unelectability but themselves. Unless the GOP purge the Christian right from their rank and file, they will continue to lose on a national level. The notion that a liberal media has covered up for Mr. Clinton simply does not have much merit, given the fact that they've basically gone "wilding" on him (not without good reason) from even before his first 100 days in office.
