True, because the IPOs thought they were buying instant success through AOL's customer base. For the most part, that was turned out less than dazzling. The big companies wanted more reliable demographics before they cut loose big advertising bucks. My only point was that even if e-commerce partners fall by the wayside, at least for the immediate future, be no lack of new customers who think AOL's 12.5 million subscribers will give them instant success and who will consequently fill any holes left by unsuccessful advertisers.
