Business process software is not a commodity, however it might be better if it were - then PSFT could have Dell's multiple.

Tomabre - good catch on the Bloomberg article. thanks. with any luck , PSFT is fed up with the games the street plays and is opting for a more populist approach going forward. that would make me very happy, especially if it started a trend.

Anyway, after continuing to digest the information, I still think it's highly unlikely that PeopleSoft will not meet expectations for the quarter. If there is any bad news to be delivered, it would more likely be related to forward looking projections.

cheers. rick.

P.S. to expand on the multiple that PSFT had in "THE OLD" market: keep in mind that the old market was not only discounting the possibility of a recession next year, there were some that believed that we would never have another recession. In "THE NEW" market, I think fair value for PeopleSoft is around 30 to 35.

Okay here is a loaded question.... what is a good entry point for the purchase of PeopleSoft? Price looks very attractive at these levels but with the recent "nosedive" and the turmoil on Wall Street is it truly a good time to 'buy-in' or should I wait for the next dip?

I have been involved in several PeopleSoft implementations and am currently supporting one of PeopleSofts largest customers.... (2000+ users) sure there are some bugs and the product does have its deficiencies but I believe that PeopleSoft is a much better product when compared to their competitors. Been on Oracle App, SAP, Baan and PeopleSoft implementations from start to finish and I would choose PeopleSoft over all the others. Installation is much easier, code is easy to follow, works on all types of platforms and has the functionality that my client's desire. This is a solid company with a large client base...

I have read a few posts about PeopleSoft but I want to gauge the sentiment of the people who have ridden this stock from the highs to the (recent) lows.... seems like a good bargain to me, but I have not followed the stock from a financial standpoint and would appreciate any insight you (or anyone else) may have.

Thanks in advance for you assistance...

P.S. remember PeopleSoft has their annual conference the first week of November in San Francisco, CA
