All, I obtained the following from Yahoo's PSFT message board.

No source for the info was provided. But, if correct, it implies that PSFT was blindsided by Alex Brown regarding the meeting format:

"Alex Brown changed the format of the meeting from basically a presentation by PSFT (where they could control the text of the information they wanted to present so as to not violate the quiet period non-disclosures that are in affect shortly before the release of earnings) to a general break out session where they would respond to a number of general questions put to them by members of the investment community. They did not feel that was an appropriate forum to present their text so they backed out of the meeting. This was the reason given by the company...nothing more or less...."
