An example of "good performance" is what Intel did during the boom part of the tech cycle. That's over now.

Good performance WAS through 1996. It was downhill ever since. 30%+ growth in MPCs in 4Q 96, 1Q 97 was a mismatch with PC growth rate in teens. Not to mention loss of marketshare to AMD & others in sub 1000. Not that you know all these. Just to let you know where my differing opinion comes from.

FYI, when Intel was going at great guns, its cash flow was flat or slightly negative.
