Kurt, nice article, or was it an advertisement. I noted a question on AOL users that I hadn't given much thought.

"If you subscribe to an Internet service provider whose mail is "pop3" compatible (that's most ISPs but not AOL), then Portico will also read you your e-mail over the phone and let you dictate a response that the user can play back through the speakers on their PC. "

Isn't there a work around for this and users who's e-mail resides behind a firewall? I thought you needed to program your email to be automatically forwarded to Portico, rather than have her go to your ISP and take e-mail. Do you know how this works for sure?

I can see GM making e-mail better. I find in my account, I would like to be able to review the e-mails I send from Portico, but have no record. The other day, I started a reply, but canceled it. I wasn't sure what had really happened and couldn't check a log to see if I had sent anything. Also, I want to initiate e-mails to people without them being based on replys. Doesn't seem possible even thought they are in my address book.

Anyway, the article was good. In the end, it's hard to get the idea of this service across in less than 20 words. I read all the stories and compare them to what I know, but how do people see this when they've never heard of Portico, or even speech recognition based systems?

Lots of radio adds happening in the San Francisco area.

Regards,

Mark
