Brees, as a matter of fact, I think it would be good for everyone if he resigned. He won't, however.

I knew he was a liar from day one. I didn't and don't care. I pretty much expect that anyone who claws his way to the top of the establishment heap to be an accomplished liar, proven back-stabber, and potential war criminal. To me the presidency is about little more than maintaining and expanding the flow of global and domestic capital while keeping the public relations damage from the human and social costs at a minimum. How's that any different from a corrupt police precinct captain in 1920s Chicago, keeping the bribes and kickbacks from the bootleggers up while keeping the number of gangland shootings down.

I'll leave you with a thought from Howard Brenner, average schmo from Riverwoods, Illinois, in the letters section of today's Chicago Tribune:

"How dare these blockheads we refer to as our representatives gamble with my future while they play their moronic political games? Do I really care about the sexual behavior of our morally bankrupt leaders as long as my paycheck continues to arrive on time? Not a fig."
