Ken,

Good to see you. Yes, it sounds like CSCO has a similar strategy; what surprised me is how much they seem to be bypassing the traditional technologies entirely (someone correct me if I'm wrong). It's like they're leaving the traditional market to NT and LU and focusing entirely on the IP layer over that. It seems to me to be a pretty bold move, to bet entirely on one direction and part of the equation. Oddly, though, NT's layoffs in the traditional switching area would appear to confirm the strategy (and to take it one step further, perhaps NT's layoffs would indicate the direction of the market instead of the financial trouble the market has taken that move for). I would add that I do not know every step in CSCO's five-step IP plan, however. Perhaps NT's strong move today is recognition by the market of all this, although LU and CSCO are also up nicely today. What a time to be in this sector; there's so much going on that's going to influence technology for decades to come, IMHO.
