John: <<HWP exec said that he sees sales slowing in 2nd half of 99 --just heard such on CNBC>>

IMHO, HWP may experience falling sales. Yet, that could be a company-specific problem. I would not underestimate DELL's ability to execute in a difficult environment. NO OTHER FIRM IN THE INDUSTRY has a business model like DELL.

John:
The very first time HWP reported poor earnings, I sold and never bought into it. But I always liked HWP products and bought 2 printers.
But when it comes to the stock, that is another story.

I may be wrong, but I believe I read (on this thread) that HWP very seldom has good earnings reports. If this is true than their forecast of a slower 2nd half of 99 will probably be a non-event.

The general consensus seems to be that the overall market will explode between now and the end of the year 2000.

What amazes me is to put out that kind of forecast before the end of the 2nd half of 1998. If I owned that stock I'd be a little more than dismayed that he is surrendering before "half time." I'd also light a fire under my sales and marketing group.

JMHO,
