I don't know if I missed the discussion, but I thought the following line was also interesting in the MKII-8 technical specs:

"Each FL_Port can support 1-126 NL_Ports. Each public loop can handle both public and private loop transactions"

I recall that a few months ago this was a burning issue. We haven't heard very much on the technical side from the Ancor detractors these days. We also haven't heard much from the competition.

Greg,

<<Then the switch would be even smaller. No, my point, of course, was that I/O would consume a fair percentage of the board real estate. Just like die size is often limited by the bonding pads, the accommodation of the GBICs probably makes the PCB bigger than it would have to be. If the package weren't meant to be rack mounted, the GBICs would not have to be strung out on just one side of the board.>>

How about a switch in the shape of a cube, with GBICs on three sides, status lights in front, and a plasma sphere on top that would modulate its display in response to network traffic? Of course, it could also be programmed to detect mood swings of the people walking by, sort of like those mood rings from the 70's. <g>

<<Will they allow individual investors to participate in the conference call?>>

LOL. I think they will welcome investor participation this time around. They showed remarkable restraint last time, considering that THEY knew about the 8-port switch.
