Glenn, doubtful that many positions will be called, but shorts are notorious (generalizing here) for pressing their bets. In light of the rates cuts, they will be happy to take their recent profits (as they did this afternoon). This means tomorrow should be boosted with much short covering.

Also, another thing that might fuel a rally tomorrow is the fact that the rate cut occurred so late in the day. Imagine thousands of brokers on the phones, unable to reach clients with lots of money on the sidelines, waiting for the right moment to come back in. Could mean a lot of "buy on open" orders in the morning. Should be fun to watch.
