I wouldn't say that RDRAM is inferior. My point is that anyone expecting RDRAM to improve CPU benchmarks will be sadly disappointed.

In general this is true, but one thing that the bandwidth lets you do is be very aggressive with software prefetching. Both 3dnow and KNI add prefetch instructions.

Unfortunately, the front side bus becomes a bottleneck. I would like to see CPUs from AMD and Intel that integrate the "north bridge".

I hear much about the latency issue surrounding RDRAM. Can the architecture or design layout be improved to take care of this issue? Or is this not possible?
