Have you or anyone else inquired to the webmisstress about the propriety of forsale items in the clubhouse? I've got a growing pile of stuff that might suit some of the group very nicely, but I don't want to fire away with posts without getting some "semi-official" go ahead. As founder and chief organizer of this thread, I think you qualify.

Hope this NT stuff goes well! I think (and hope) you'll find its worth the effort, though it does involve some learning curve. Are you interested in recommendations for good books on NT?

Regards,

Dave

STOP IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL...ADDRESS 8021b978 has a base at 80212000-aic7802.sys and then a bezillion numbers. At the end it suggested I go to recovery options in control panel??

Ahh, The beloved Blue screen of death. I hope you don't become familar with them.....

BTW, I formatted the NT partition NTFS. It did not seem like I had a choice. NT gave me an option to format FAT but when I opted for FAT NT said I exceeded the 2 GB FAT limitation. It gave me an option to create a smaller partition but would not accept my input.

You have to backup a few steps and remove the NTFS parition first.

This may be related to the problem I had with Partition Magic and Drive Image with too many primary partitions. I played a little more and discovered that If there are four primary partitions on a drive the copy partition option is not available. The strange thing is the copy partition function is also not available on a second IDE harddrive on the same controller even if it has only one primary partition. The limitation seems like it is related to the total number of primary partitions on the IDE controller and not the total number of partitions on a drive..or two many primary partitions on one drive will affect the ability to create partitions on a second IDE drive. The limitation has not manifested itself on my SCSI drives yet.

Is this with Drive Image or PM or Both????

BTW: If you have a Soundblaster go ahead and install it before SP3.

I haven't read the replies to this yet put if these limitations are for real then that would mean on our two IDE drive computer, which are both on the same IDE controller, correct?, the total number of partitions between the two drives could not exceed three?
That doesn't seem right to this Greenhorn. Too limiting to be functional....... put I'll read on.
(no need to reply if answers are given, later.

>>I think I am going to like NT once I get it working...

ZP, I can practically guarantee you that you won't LIKE
NT. You might prefer it, you might apprecieate its
stability, you might like certain features of it. BUT
recovering from failures, blue screens of death,
NT's habit of booting and destroying your recourse then
failing, inability to boot from a floppy, difficulty of
configuration, obscure tweaking, etc, etc, etc, will,
unless you have the patience of Job, preclude your
LIKING it <GG>. Of course your efforts on this thread
indicate you may well have Job's patience, so perhaps
you will like it after all ...

This is partly a joke, but I wish I could say totally.

Spots

PS. I ain't going back to Win 95/98 myself <GGG>.
