OT: Several people here indicated that they have Quantum3D's Banshee-based Raven board. They've just posted updated drivers here:

I haven't downloaded or tested them yet.

I don't like DIMD anymore, but this lawsuit is silly.

Just because the device can be used to play copyrighted material doesn't mean it has to be. It's like an audio tape that can never be removed from the device. You can download (record) a song onto the chip (tape) and play it back when you want.

Modems can be used to download copyrighted software, but that doesn't make them illegal.

This is the birth of shareware music, and the big record labels don't like the loss of control.

Anyway, the pirating of copyrighted music is going on already, without the devices being on the market. Are soundcards and hardrives illegal now?

3Dfx to buy Diamond?
Source: (3D Gaming)
Inside sources say that 3Dfx is seriously thinking about buying Diamond Multimedia, and with a stock price of ~3.25 Diamond might find it hard to resist. In fact it looks like Diamond might welcome the merger as a way of cutting of Creative Labs' from continueing to erode Diamond's retail and system integrator market share. Without 3Dfx this year Creative Labs would have barely gained any market share in graphics. The added resources of 3Dfx would enable Diamond to
keep its lead on graphics while it concentrates on expanding into the audio and motherboards.

I wonder how this could work, Diamond is my opinion the prostitute of 3D.
