Wow! That was a really insightful post. Lot's of good sniping at republicans. And a shot at JLA while you were at it.

Although not much I could say would change your mind about the pols you mentioned, I share some of your disdain for the people in congress. But I think the dems are far sleazier than the repubs.

How about Ted "Murderer" Kennedy? Al "Tobacco" Gore. Barney "Prostitute" Frank. Chris "DNC Whore" Dodd. Joe "Plagerize" Biden. I could go on and on. By my (admittedly rough) estimation, 90% of congressional Democrats are very sleazy versus only about 40% of Republicans. No poll, just opinion. Not fact, but opinion.

For every "bad" Republican you can find, I can find 2 bad Democrats.

Clinton's most concrete legacy is that parents can no longer watch the nightly news with the kids around.

in your "conservatives of ill repute", you slyly include Slade Gorton, citing his support for saving disease-infested forests. At least, that's my take on the "Salvage Rider", aka the Forest Health Preservation Act of '94. Daniel, are you aware that, due to mismanagement and near-sighted EarthFirst-style dogma, that forests in Oregon and Washington were, in some cases, simply allowed to become forests of "standing dead" trees, trees honeycombed from Pine Bark Beetles? So Gorton agrees that it would be okay to try to salvage some of the remaining trees in the worst areas, since in the worst areas the trees are doomed to die from investation anyway.

Yet you cite this policy as "Where, in Viet Nam style, we have to clearcut the forests in order to save them."

Hah! Caught you slipping in your OPINIONS in order to smear Senator Slade Gorton (R-WA) with the "conservatives of ill repute" label.
