Geoff,
I have both 17" and 19" and I PREFER the 19" . What a difference 2 " make. You won't be sorry. I would even go to a 20" if they had it at the time I bought mine.

Geoff -
The bigger monitors are great to use - I have a 21" nokia and I love it. But they are BIG AND HEAVY so be ready for a little more work in setting up and moving things around.

Hi Geoff,

We use Dell's 17", 19" and a few 21" monitors at work. The 21" monitor are very nice but the price premium is too high. We buy them only when it is really necessary. The 19" monitors are just fantastic. It's a great compromise between the 17" and the 21" ones. We buy 17" monitors for people that do basic work on their computer (Word, e-mail, etc.). Everybody in IT and anybody else that uses Excel and Powerpoint gets an 19". Well worth the price!

OT-Well Geoff...Looks like everyone else on the thread answered your question to me (before me)..

I am very happy with the 17'', but in all honesty, I am probably not the best person to ask.....I work from home (do not work with anyone with a 19") and have not used a 19".... so I assume it is somewhat better, but have no clue..In other words, I wouldnt be knowledgable enough to compare....

Good luck with your decision.

Geoff,

OT - Monitors. Here's a subjective observation on the size of the monitor. Note that no one has said that they obtained a larger monitor and found it to be undesirable. I currently have 17" monitors and my next purchase will be a larger one, though I haven't decided the size.

Regards,
Jim
