Here is a quote from a news letter--my discount broker, TD Bank, Canada:

An interviewed fund manager said, "As we go through this year into the next, we expect to see profit growth slow below analysts' projections. In such an environment, it would be unusual for small-cap stocks to begin to outperform larger-cap equities before we see a recession."

I have been curious about the situation in the small caps lately.

Is it historically true that small cap P/Es lag large caps in this environment? If so, then history suggests that small caps are a write off until the environment changes. What environmental change must take place before the situation changes from 'depressed prices' to 'buying opportunity' in small caps? Recession? Really?

Ciao,
David Todtman
